Ferreira Malaquias, founded in 1896, is a family-owned business which is present in the wine business for four generations, and has always, throughout its history, renewed its compromise and dedication through a long-term vision.

Founded by José Ferreira Malaquias in 1896, at the end of the XIX century the company was already established as a successful wine exporter, with its commercialization activity of wines from the Dão region.

In a recent past, Ferreira Malaquias has complied with a vast investment plan with the vision of presenting to the national and exportation market quality wines with character, with different styles and absolute respect for the origin “terroir”.

Today it has in its portfolio the most renowned wine regions of Portugal - Vinhos Verdes (Minho), Douro, Alentejo and Tejo, and continuing the history connection that comes since its founding, to the Dão region wines.

The year of 2013 is marked by the boost in oenology investment, with the entrance of a prestiged group of oenologists, that came to revolutionize all the Ferreira Malaquias wines, expression of all the art of building the best blends and revealing each regions’ personality, with knowledge, detail and technology.

To increase quality in all its brands has been constantly confirmed by the recognition from the internal and exportation market, and by the achievement of multiple awards at an international level.

  José Ferreira Malaquias starts its activity in Ovar, of wine and olive oil commerce.
• 1902

  Started to export to Brazil barrels of mature wine, “vinho verde” and oilive oil
• 1933

  The death of the founder led Álvaro Ferreira Malaquias still aged 18, along with his mother, Carolina, to assume business under the designation of ‘Widow of José Ferreira Malaquias & Sons’.
• 1956

  The company denomination modifies to “Ferreira Malaquias Lda.”.The exports to the African market, Macau and Timor begin.
• 1965

  Ferreira Malaquias is chosen to represent the products of CUFP, Unicer, currently Superbock Group
• 1970

  Already with the grandsons of the founder, Fernando Malaquias begins a new era with the bottling of the table wines and the Dão region wines.
• 1996

  The company celebrates 100 years and is run by the third and fourth generation.
• 2000

  We widen the wine bottling to the Alentejo, Douro, Vinhos Verdes region.
• 2016

  The company celebrates 120 years and is run by the third and fourth generation.
